So far I’ve written about Iron Man and Spider-Man. I think that now we should have a closer look at a non human hero – Thor (http://marvel.com/characters/60/thor).

He’s an incredibly strong Nordic God with a source of additional power from his hammer. He’s a little confused in the world of men but he doesn’t have bad intentions. With this issue he got help from his human lover. He learns what mankind is like and try to understand them. I think that’s why he decided to fight alongside the Avengers against monsters and his brother Loki from his dimension. He does his best to help protect the world – our world.

If we would have him right here, right now he could help us in battles and try to restore law and order but I think that he wouldn’t do well because of his anger and temper. In my view, he would definitely be a caprice in 21th Century world but his presence in our world would prove that there is more than one God. I guess we will never find out.

Winter is the time for comfort, for good food

(about 6 servings)

⦁ 4 cups whole milk
⦁ 1 cup semi-sweet or dark chocolate chips
⦁ 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
In a large saucepan over low heat whisk together cocoa powder and milk until combined. Add chocolate chips, increase heat to medium, and stir frequently until chips have melted and liquid is glossy and smooth. Reduce heat to low and keep warm. Stir and ladle into mugs to serve.

⦁ ginger powder
⦁ caramel sauce

⦁ instant coffee mix
⦁ maple syrup

⦁ chocolate coating

1/2 cup milk + 140 g milk chocolate + 1/4 cup heavy cream + 3 tbsp. caramel sauce

1 cup milk + 1/2 tbsp. sugar + 1/2 tbsp. grated orange zest + 50 g dark chocolate

1 cup vanilla almond milk + 1-1/2 tbsp. unsweetened cocoa powder + 2 tsp. palm sugar

○ heat the chocolate until it’s hot – do not let it boil!
○ pour the hot chocolate into a blender, cover with the lid and blend till frothy

I wonder if the snow loves the trees and fields, that it kisses them so gently?
And then it covers them up snug, you know, with a white quilt; and perhaps it says,
“Go to sleep, darlings, till the summer comes again.”

Edward D. Wood Jr. – what an interesting man! Self-made man without film school became a real cinematic legend! I guess people asked about legendary directors come up with names such as Orson Welles, Francis Ford Coppola, Stanley Kubrick, Krzysztof Kieślowski or Ingmar Bergman. But Ed Wood is a different kind of legend. He didn’t direct „The Godfather” or „Clockwork Orange”. He wasn’t innovative or revolutionary director. While directors listed above are called one of the best directors ever, Wood was called… the worst.
„Glen & Glenda”, „Bride Monster” or „Plan 9 from Outer Space” are just a few titles he made. I’m going to write a little about the last one, Wood’s „opus magnum”.
„Plan 9 from Outer Space” was written, directed and produced by Ed Wood in 1959 and was originally titled „Grave Robbers from Outer Space”. The plot revolves around ‚aliens who resurrect dead humans as zombies and vampires to stop humanity from creating the Solaranite (a sort of sun-driven bomb)’ [taken from IMDB]
So what makes „Plan 9” special? Is it a good movie directed by awful director? No, it is definitely not. It’s an awfully bad movie. It has everything that make Ed Wood „the worst”. Terribly written dialogues, shoddy scenography (my favourite part of scenography are little cute flying saucers, which Ed Wood bought in a toy store and hung with strings), uncommonly bad acting, erratic montage (in chasing scene there are night and day time shots at the same time), laughable special effects and ridiculous plot. It has everything that movie shouldn’t have. And that’s what makes it so unique. Its awkwardness and ‚crappiness’ makes it somehow… beautiful.
For me, as a B-class movie and cheap sci-fi/horror fan it was an amazing experience. Watching a movie that became a truly legendary picture and cult classic was someting special to me – somebody, who loves this kind of ‚pulp stuff’ and all this trashy pop culture. I find all this things so bad that they become worth watching, because they are unusual. They have something that makes you remember it even if they are trash. And I found that ‚something’ in „Plan 9 from Outer Space”. I found that kind of beauty that may be hidden really deep which makes many people not even notice it. I could sense the heart that Edward D. Wood Jr. put into flick. His love to ‚pulp’ magazines, cheap movies, etc. Love which he gave into every single frame of this movie. Probably I enjoyed it that much because me and Wood love the same stuff. Maybe… it’s a sign for me?

We’re living in the 21th century in which violence is omnipresent and no one can do anything about it unless you’re a politician. What’s worse we’re hiding the truth from ourselves. We don’t want to see a war that is taking place near us. Not to mention the negative impact that technology has on our lives.

Taking the above into account, I’d like to find out if we need heroes to help us solve the problems or if they would be needless.

For starters, think about  Iron Man (http://marvel.com/characters/29/iron_man) that we humans can relate to. He’s rich genius that created a suit of armour connected to his mind and also the main artificial intelligence system of which headquaters are located in his house. Wearing the armour allows him to do almost anything without super powers, but I’m not sure if we really need Iron Man in our life. I think that without the Avengers (http://marvel.com/characters/68/avengers) he wouldn’t be able to save the world even if it was just another war in which people fight against people – not the one caused by the arrival of gods from Asgard.

On the other hand, his inventions and knowledge could help in the real world to solve the military conflicts that are in progress these days. But it could also cause more problems, even graver than we’re facing now, because his weapons are just like an atomic bomb that kills all the living organisms within its range, not just enemies.

To sum up, I have to say that he’s not the one that could save our world, but he could contribute significantly to its ultimate destruction.
